Title 24 Reports

What is a Title 24 report?

Title 24 was put into place in 1978 by the State of California Energy Commission (CEC) to reduce excessive energy usage. This report is an energy analysis, for both residential and commercial buildings, which calculates the energy used to illuminate, heat, and cool the space.

Do I need one?

You may need a Title 24 Report if you're planning to add or remove square footage, construct a new building, or alter the mechanics of a building. If you are unsure, your city’s building department can advise you as to whether or not one will be required as part of the permit process.

Can't I just do it myself?

You could, however we use specialized software to perform your calculations and are experts at completing the necessary forms. With over 30 years of experience and various certifications, our knowledge of the codes will help you achieve the most efficient, accurate, and cost effective solution. If necessary, we can advise and recommend elements to bring you into compliance, save you energy, and possibly even save you money.

Do I have to come down to your office to get a Title 24 report?

We prefer face-to-face interaction. However, you can easily e-mail us a set of plans and we can print them onsite for our use. For your convenience, we can also work through phone and e-mail correspondence.

What do I need on hand in order to get a Title 24 report?

A set of architectural drawings including floor plans, elevations, site plan, and section drawings. These can be hand-delivered or emailed to us.

What can I expect once my Title 24 report is finished?

We provide a standard four sets of wet-signed calculations, along with one wet-signed 24” x 36” sheet to be included with your drawings and the necessary acceptance forms needed for your project. These items are required to obtain your building permit.

How long will this take?

Time frames vary depending on the time of year and how busy we are. Typically, if you are ready with all the necessary documentation, we can complete the testing and reports within three or four business days.

Unfortunately there is no set price, as cost varies depending on the job size and the scope of work. We would be happy to provide a quote if you call us or send us your plans via email.
